Welcome to freight people. We would love you to be involved.

January 2020 saw the launch of freight people.  Over 50 people attended and so a massive THANK YOU to everyone who supported us and for the kind feedback received – we were overwhelmed.

What is freight people?

freight people is a community of people who work in the transport industry, who are passionate about safety and compliance, continuous development and discussing with likeminded people. We hold monthly meetings for individuals of any job role, age or skill set to meet in convivial surroundings, to discuss transport hot topics, share best practice, offer support and to create a network to educate, assist and collaborate in tackling and resolving industry issues. Each month there is a presentation on a topical subject, the opportunity to ask questions of our sponsors.

Your host:

Lesley O’Brien is an award winning business professional with 40 years’ experience working in the road transport industry on both the international and national platform. She is a partner at freightlink europe and freight train and a dedicated champion of the transport industry with a focus on compliance, improving standards, conditions for Drivers and promoting transport as a career choice for young people. She sat on the Board of Directors of the RHA for almost 9 years, is currently a member of the Yorkshire Maintenance Committee, RHA Security Forum and a Trustee of the RHA Benevolent Fund. She is a passionate advocate for women in transport and business.

Whilst there are many events focusing on increasing business through networking, Lesley’s focus in creating freight people is to link transport people of all ages and skill sets to share information and best practice, encourage and support one another, to provide access to industry professionals to assist with compliance with industry standards and to provide continuous professional development (CPD).

Lesley has been a great inspiration to me and I am sure many others. She shares her knowledge, passion and is very supportive to help others to be successful. Lesley started Freight People which is how I know her. The face to face meetings were great but the online sessions have just been as good. Her knowledge about the transport industry is amazing and she always shares her experiences – good and bad. She is extremely open, honest and has empathy with others. Anyone in transport should join Freight People where we share best practice and ideas. Freight People also goes towards your CPD.
